Michelle Van Niekerk, OTR/L
Michelle was born in Cape Town, South Africa and received her degree in Occupational Therapy at The University of Western Cape in 1994. She was recruited to work in the United States as a travelling therapist and was able to work in a variety of settings. She has lived and worked in Broward County for the past 16 years. Michelle has extensive experience in sensory integration, visual perceptual training, Neuro-muscular training and fine motor development. She also has experience in aquatic therapy, upper extremity rehabilitation and is currently practicing Hippo therapy as a therapeutic technique. Michelle is passionate about working with children and their families so that they receive the support and understanding of the intervention process. Michelle believes that children are very dynamic and the occupation of play and applying task centered and Neuro-motor approaches are a few of the many reasons she enjoys her profession. When she is not working she enjoys time volunteering within her church community, traveling and spending time with her husband and three wonderful children.
